On behalf of the Organizing Committee you are cordially invited to participate in the Third National Pest Management Conference which will be held in the Sudan on 3-4 February, 2014. The conference will be held at the Agricultural Research Corporation (ARC), Wad Medani, Sudan under the auspices of his excellency the president of the government.
The conference will be organized by the ARC through the Crop Protection Research Centre (CPRC), which is the flagship of the ARC with the capacity of 80 scientists. The mission of the CPRC in the Sudan is to endorse the development, use and understanding of effective and sustainable crop protection practices; promote improved- environmentally sensitive ones to produce wholesome food.
The aims of the conference will be to evaluate, adopt and disseminate the knowledge gained in pest management in the Sudan within the frame work of the socio- economic developments of the agriculture producers.
Delegates can register for the conference by using the printed registration form shown below:
(a) delegates and overseas participants 300 US Dollars
(b) students , as part of encouragement, or post graduate researchers may register for the event at 100 Sudanese pounds
(c) national on service participants 200 Sudanese pounds
All those registering as (a) and(c) will be entitled to
(1) attend all sessions of the conference
(2) a set of the printed conference proceedings of abstracts.

Call for abstracts
Those who wish to present a paper at the conference are invited to submit an abstract, before 15 Dec.2013, indicating way in which they would like to present the paper: oral presentation or poster presentation. Abstracts are required to be submitted in electronic copy. Abstracts will be evaluated for acceptance by the Scientific Committee. By December 30th, 2013 the presenting author will be notified whether the abstract has been accepted, and if so, of the proposed type of presentation (oral or poster).
All abstracts will be published in the book of abstracts. The book of abstracts will be handed over to the participants on the day of the conference.

The conference will focus on new developments in all aspects of pests management that are made available after the 2nd conference of pests management held in 2004. Instructions for oral presentation
Each oral presentation is strictly limited to 15 minutes, followed by 5 minutes of discussion. Oral presentations must be in English. All sessions are equipped with an LCD projector. The session secretary is responsible for the projection. Hand over your PowerPoint presentation to him/her one day before the start of the session.
Instructions for poster presentation
Poster presentations should be in English. The maximum poster size is 90 cm wide and 150 cm high, and is preferably in standard format. Title, authors' names and affiliation should be included at the top of the poster.
The poster should consist of objectives, methods, results and discussion. It should be clear, simple and self explanatory: although time will be reserved for poster viewing and discussion, posters must be understandable in the absence of the author. All figures and tables must have headings, labeled axes and legends. Lettering should be legible from a distance of 1 m.
Exhibitors are responsible for mounting posters and removing them at the end of the day. Materials for poster mounting will be provided by the poster secretary.
All presenting authors are expected to register. Presenting authors that are not present at the day of the conference are not allowed to publish their work in the proceedings of the conference afterwards.
Line spacing should be 1.
Main title and subtitles (Abstract, Introduction, ...) should only start by capitals and boldface; do not use numbering for titles and subtitles.
Make sure that all characters that are to be typeset in italic are italic.
Use hard returns only at the end of each paragraph and after titles.
Make sure that all text is flush left; do not centre any text.
Do not use forced page break.
Place captions of figures below the figures.
Place captions of tables above the tables.
Do not include tables as a figure, use the table function of the text editor.

Full papers or extended abstracts of both oral and poster presentations will be published in a special issue of the Journal " Sudan Journal of Agricultural Research". Publication is expected in October 2014. Manuscripts must be submitted to the scientific committee before April 30, 2014.
The total manuscript should not exceed 10 printed pages. Authors are requested to submit their full papers timely otherwise they will not be included in the Proceedings.
Instructions for writing papers
Full papers should be in English and consist of the following sections: Abstract, introduction, materials and methods, results, discussion (or results and discussion) and references. The text should be typed on white plane paper with double spacing and on one side of the paper. It is preferable that the text is saved in Microsoft Word version or in rich text format. Two hard copies and a copy on CD should be submitted.

Tables and figures have to be typed on separate sheets, numbered in the same order as mentioned in the text. Measurements units must be in the metric system.
Graphs and charts supplied in their original file format (Excel).. When figures are made in a spread sheet like excel enclose the file. The proceedings are printed in black and white; don’t use colours or coloured lines for your graphics, bars in graphics should be filled with a pattern instead of a colour.
Photographs and drawings should be in black and white and have good contrast. Alternatively, good-quality computer-generated photographs may be sent. If used, please send digital versions of your photographs. They have to be supplied in Jpg or Gif format. Each complete photograph should be placed in a separate file. Illustrations in colour cannot be accepted. Figures and photograph captions should be numbered in separate series and referred to with Arabic numerals in the text as "Figure 1", etc.. Figure legends should be self-explanatory and grouped together on a separate sheet. Subdivisions within figures should be labelled with lower-case letters, e.g. a, b and c, etc. and they should also be used in the figure captions and the text.
